C. Pouncey winged it flight back to the God who gave it. Bro. Pouncey lived his life in Butler County, except for 2 years spent in Conecuh. He was 59 years old. He was loved and respected by his family and friends. Bro Pouncey was ill some 9 days with pneumonia. All was done that loving hands and tender care could do, but to no avail. God knew best, and called him home to be ever with the blest, where there will be no more suffering, no more heartaches, nor goodbyes. Bro Pouncey was a great believer in holiness. He talked and testified holiness wherever he went and to whomever he was with. He was wonderfully saved and sanctified. He shouted and sang praises to God. While confined to his bed, he told his companion and children he was going to Heaven and he wanted their family to be unbroken in Heaven. Oh thanks be to God for testimony like that. We can truly say of Bro. Pouncey like Paul of old: "He has fought a good fight, kept the faith, and has finished his course," and we believe a crown of righteousness is laid up in glory. It seems as if we can hear Bro. Pouncey say: "Weep not for me, dear wife and children, for I will be waiting for thee in glory." The funeral was held at the Friendship Holiness Church Tuesday at 3 pm. The house was overflowing with relatives and friends to pay their last respects to Bro. Pouncey. Funeral services were conducted by the Rev. Levy Pressley, the Rev. I N Jordan, the Rev. Clarence Till, the Rev. J. E. Till, the Rev. Volmar Owens and the Rev. S. A. Dantzler. His body was laid to rest in the old Friendship cemetery to await the resurrection morn, when the dead in Christ shall arise. He leave to mourn his passing, his wife. Mrs. W. C. Pouncey, of Greenville, Route 1; and 12 children, Mrs. Reuben Mills, Mrs. Kenyon Cooper, Mrs. Wright Ward, Mrs. Johnnie Hall, Keith and Kendrick Pouncey, of Montgomery, Ala; Mrs. J. D. Hendricks, of Greenville; Dewey, Claud, Hazel, Christine and Pauline, all of Greenville, Route 1; also two sisters, Mrs. Felix Dantzler, of Brewton, and Mrs. Henry Thomas of Bushnell, Fla; also a host of other relatives and friends. Pallbearers were sons and son-in-law, Johnson and Dunklin in charge. Dear daddy it is so lonely since you went away, but we know that you are at rest in Jesus, and in sin will never more stray. Dear daddy, you know that we loved you, and we know that you loved us too. So, dear daddy, we know that today you rejoice with the angels in the mansions bright and fair. So rest on, dear daddy, in Jesus, and some day we shall meet thee up there. -- Written by a friend. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Obituary Notice Montgomery Advertiser July 12, 1969 Pouncey, Mrs. Cammie S., 83, 3866 Thomas Avenue, a resident of Montgomery for 28 years, died in a local hospital at 4 p.m. Friday. A. Till Greenville Advocate November 1932 "On Friday morning, November 18th, 1932 the Lord called from us our dear mother. She was 78 years old. Born July 11th, 1854. All of her children, two sons: A. W. Till of Georgiana, J. E. Till of Tallahassee, FL, three daughters, Mrs. W. C. Pouncy, Georgiana, Mrs. C. M. Gardner and Mrs. J. L. Williams, Greenville, were with her during her last days. Such a beautiful life of unselfishness is worthy of emulation and, the crowd which gathered around her body shows the respect they had for her. She was laid to rest at Friendship Cemetery, beside her husband, who preceded her to the grave several years ago. Rev. Earl Hill conducted the funeral service. She was only sick about a week, though she suffered greatly, she was patient and kind. Though charity envieth not, for we rejoice not in iniquity, but in truth, for God can heal all our diseases when it is for His Glory. We should trust our Father and let our souls rest in Him at all times. We had such love for her, and such faith in her that we can only feel that whatever came to her she had the guiding hand to the portals eternal, for she was ready to suffer grief and pain, ready to stand the test, ready to stay at home and send others, if she saw best. Ready to go, ready to bear, ready to watch and pray, ready to stand aside and give till He shall clear the way. Ready to speak, ready to think, ready with heart and brain, ready to stand when she sees fit, ready to stand the strain, ready to speak, ready to warn, ready o'er souls to yearn. Ready in life, ready in death, ready for His return. Ready to go, ready to stay, ready my place to fill, ready for service lowly or great, ready to do His will. Those attending her funeral from afar off were: Mr. and Mrs. C. B. Till, Birmingham; Mrs. Pamphlet, Birmingham, Mr. G. W. Till, R. D. Till, W. A. Till, J. A. Till, J. O. Till, Mr. G. W.
