Kenesaw Greathouse, who died January 4 at Washington, will be held at 2 o'clock today from the Sandy Chapel three miles east of Centerville on the University Highway in Bibb County. Surviving are his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Greathouse, four sisters, Miss Elsie Greathouse, Mrs. Ruby Hill, Mrs. Hanna Harrison, all of Tuscaloosa, and Miss Gracie Greathouse of Centerville and two brothers, Foch and B.Greathouse. --------------------------------------------------------------------------- Birmingham News Dated: January 6, 1946 ALABAMA SOLDIER DIES OF ASPHYXIATION WHILE AWAITING RIDE TO HOME VANCOUVER, WASH., Jan. 5---(AP)--S. Sgt. Kennesaw Greathouse, 25, Silver star winner who returned from the Pacific Sunday, was asphyxiated Saturday while awaiting transportation to his Centerville, Ala. home. Coroner R. E. Dufresne said Greathouse was found dead in a motor court. The coroner blamed a gas stove. Greathouse, son of Mr. and Mrs. Benjamin Greathouse, had been at Vaucouver Barracks awaiting transportation.
